Enrollment Guide for “Elite Business Chinese Program” for 2021 Spring Semester
School Introduction
The School of Chinese Language and Literature (SCLL) of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) was founded in the early 1950s. It is one of the earliest institutions to offer Chinese language degree education in China. SCLL has three departments: Department of Chinese, Department of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, and Chinese Training Center.
SCLL possesses a high-quality faculty team, with over 70 full-time teachers and nearly 60 part-time teachers. Among them, teachers with senior titles accounts for 50% of the total number of teachers, all of whom have overseas learning or teaching experiences. There are currently over 1100 students enrolled in SCLL, including over 500 Chinese students and over 600 international students.
SCLL has 7 master’s programs, namely Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, Chinese Language & Philology, Comparative Literature and World Literature, Ancient Chinese Literature, Theory of Literature and Art, and Modern & Contemporary Chinese Literature, and 3 PhD programs, which are Comparative Literature and Cross-culture Studies, Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, Language Policy Studies. All majors are now open to global admissions.
Program Introduction
The Elite Business Chinese Program is a special program for foreigners who have business and economic contacts with China.
I. Teaching Design
This program lasts 16 weeks per session, with 18 study hours per week. With small class teaching, it is open with more than 10 students, and adopts the immersion Chinese teaching method combing online teaching and “SCLL Chinese Language Education Cloud platform”. This program offers 3 courses, namely, Comprehensive Business Chinese, Business Listening and Speaking, and Business Reading and Writing. 1-2 business salon cloud activities will be held each semester.
II. Evaluation Criteria
Students who have good attendance, completed the required courses and the completion report, and achieved an average score of more than 60 points, will be awarded the program-completion certificate. Those with an average score of more than 90 points will be awarded the program-completion certificate and excellent student certificate. Every student has one chance to take the Business Chinese Test (BCT) for free.
